Six Nations 2023 Fixtures
The Guinness Six Nations will be the 24th installment of the world’s greatest rugby tournament. The competitor nations include defending champions France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and Italy. If you remember the excitement of the Six Nations Rugby Championship in 2022, you’ll definitely want to watch what happens this year.
Round 1
Round one features Ireland against Wales. The matchup is the kick off to the championship and will be played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Next England faces Scotland for the Calcutta Cup (Scotland has won the last two matchups). On Sunday, February 5, Italy and France will play at the Stadio Olimpico, in Rome.
Round 2
In the second round of the Guinness Six Nations Championship, France faces Ireland in Dublin at Aviva Stadium on Saturday, February 11. France barely held them off last time, so there’s no telling what could happen this time around. Later that day, Scotland plays Wales in Edinburgh. Round two finishes with Italy coming to London to face off with England.
Round 3
Ireland travels to Italy to start the third round. They play on Saturday, February 25 at Stadio Olimpico. Most fans think Ireland will walk away with the victory here, having beaten Italy 30 of the 34 times they have played. England then goes to Cardiff to play Wales and on Sunday Scotland plays France in Paris.
Round 4
The fourth round kicks off with Wales against Italy in Rome on Saturday, March 11. Italy upset Wales last year, but most fans don’t think lightning will strike twice for the Italians. Later that day, France plays England in London and Ireland travels to take on Scotland on Sunday.
Round 5
The final round of the Guinness Six Nations 2023 begins on Saturday, March 28 with Scotland versus Italy at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. Fans expect Scotland to close out the tournament with a victory against Italy. Next, France faces Wales at the Stade de France. The tournament closes at the end of the day with a matchup between Ireland and England in Dublin.
Six Things to Watch at Six Nations 2023
If you haven’t been keeping up on rugby this time around, don’t worry! You can still have a blast watching the great competition! Here are a few things you can watch for at the Six Nations 2023:
- Andy Farrell’s Ireland is the top-ranked team heading into the Guinness Six Nations Championship. They are the team to beat and definitely have a target on their backs.
- Italy may be better than you would think. While they only have about a 20% win rate, things have been on a real upswing for the Italians since their surprise win over Wales last year.
- France won the Guinness Six Nations Championship in 2022. They are looking to secure the first back-to-back Grand Slams in more than 20 years.
- Steve Borthwick (England), Andy Farrell (Ireland), and Gregor Townsend (Scotland) all coached on the staff of Warren Gatland (Wales) during his time with the British & Irish Lions.
- Steve Borthwick has shaken up England’s back row for the tournament’s opener, which now includes Ben Curry.
- Warren Gatland has selected Joe Hawkins for Wales for the first round saying, “His first cap he was outstanding so we’ve given him another opportunity.”
