Celebrate Tartan Day New York City this Saturday at The Winslow; the parade starts at 2pm going up 6th Avenue from 45th street to 55th street. After the parade, swing by The Winslow and try our Scotch Eggs special as well as our drink special. One of The Winslow’s co-founders, also a Scotts-man, wanted to reprise the kinds of foods and traditions from Scotland.
The U.S. Senate declared April 6th to be the National Tartan Day in 1998 to recognize all of the contributions made by Scottish-Americans to the United States. New York City, which has shared a long history with Scottish immigrants, began celebrating Tartan Day in 1999 with two pipe bands and a small group of Scottish Americans; today, Tartan Day is celebrated for a week culminating with a parade.
The parade is free and anyone can enter to march in it. The parade starts at 2pm at 45th Street and will march up 6th Ave to 55th Street. CLICK HERE to go to the parade’s website.
