Buffalo Bills 2023 Season Preview
The Buffalo Bills had a quieter offseason compared to last year when they were highly favored to win the Super Bowl after an impressive campaign.
Despite living up to much of the hype with a 13-3 record and notable victories, their campaign was marred by a devastating loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs. While that loss was deflating, it also took the spotlight off the Bills as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The team’s core remains strong, featuring MVP-level quarterback Josh Allen and receiver Stefon Diggs. However, their recent playoff shortcomings and the competitive nature of the AFC pose challenges.
While they have the talent to win the Super Bowl, the Bills need to seize their opportunities before their window closes, considering the fierce competition in the conference.
How the Bills Could Win a Super Bowl
Last season, just a few plays cost the Bills a perfect season. They only had three losses, and those were by a combined 8 points. It is safe to say they could have feasibly won all 16 regular-season games if a few scenarios had played out differently.
While aiming for an undefeated season might be ambitious, the Bills’ strong foundation and reasons that made them favorable last year, including quarterback Josh Allen and other key factors, still remain intact.
This means that they could easily maintain their status as a top contender. That would put the Bills potentially with the best NFL record and chasing a Super Bowl win, even considering their difficulty of schedule.
The fact is, whatever made you feel good about the Bills’ chances last year, still applies this year.
Where is Damar Hamlin Now?
Hamlin has played in the preseason and he has looked good. This is something that the team and fans everywhere can absolutely rejoice about. The fact is, we weren’t sure he would ever play again. The fact that he is playing now is worth celebrating.
That said, it would be delusional to think that the injury to Hamlin and his medical condition last year was not a distraction for the team. How could you not worry after you see one of your football brothers lying on the field like that?
With Hamlin healthy, the Bills not only have his contribution to the team, but they are long past the distraction of an injured teammate and the media buzz that went on around that situation. That definitely bodes well for the team’s hopes for this season.
