British Pub, Sports & Gin Bar near Union Square

Finally, a place near Union Square where the cocktail list is as impressive as the match-day atmosphere. Located at 243 E 14th St — steps from the L Train at 3rd Avenue and a three-minute walk from Union Square Station — The Winslow is a British-style gin bar and eatery serving the East Village and Gramercy since 2014.
Not Just Another New York City Bar
The Winslow was created to be akin to a British-style bar and eatery. Because gin has had such a big influence, as well as its history in London, the owners realized Manhattan needed a proper gin bar. Largely influenced by the Spanish presentation of gin and tonics with botanical pairings, The Winslow wasn’t just going to have gin on the menu– it was going to serve it up right.
Manhattan Needed a Proper Gin Bar
We don’t just pour gin — we curate it. As featured in Punch Magazine and Time Out New York, our gin program is designed for everyone from the gin-curious to the connoisseur.

Here is how our patrons felt after enjoying their event in Winslow:

Rugby, Soccer & More…
We are the unofficial clubhouse for the serious fan. While other bars near Union Square might reluctantly turn on a TV, we roll out the red carpet for the matches that matter.
Six Nations & Rugby Union
We are an official viewing location for Six Nations Rugby in NYC. We open early — 30 minutes before kickoff — for international fixtures. No specials, no gimmicks. Just the match with the sound on and a crowd that knows the game.
English Premier League
Watch EPL matches the way they’re meant to be experienced: with commentary, atmosphere, and a proper pint.
The Atmosphere
Electric but civilized. Expect a crowd that understands the offside rule, cheering in a space designed with clear sightlines and acoustic zoning. This isn’t a generic sports bar — it’s a destination for fans who care about the game.

How to Find Us
We are steps from the L Train (3rd Avenue stop) — literally across the street.
A 3-minute walk from Union Square Station serving the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, and W trains. This makes us one of the most accessible bars in Manhattan for groups coming from different boroughs.
Directly on the M14A/D Crosstown bus route along 14th Street.
Whether you’re coming from NYU, leaving a show at Irving Plaza, browsing books at The Strand, or working in the Gramercy office district, a proper pint is just minutes away.
Do you have a full food menu during sports matches?
Absolutely. Our full pub menu is available during all operating hours, including early-morning rugby fixtures.
Can I host a private gin tasting for my team or group?
Yes. We offer private gin tastings in NYC for groups of 8 or more. Contact us to customize your experience.
Is there a cover charge for Six Nations Rugby or EPL matches?
No. We don’t charge covers or require minimums for sporting events. Just come early to secure a good spot.
Do you have vegetarian and vegan options?
Yes. We offer gluten-free batter for our Fish & Chips and vegan pies that are just as satisfying as our traditional menu items.
Where exactly are you located relative to Union Square?
We’re on 14th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues — directly across from the L Train 3rd Avenue stop and a 3-minute walk east from Union Square Station.
Do you show all English Premier League matches with sound?
We are the best place to watch Rugby Union near Union Square and a dedicated home for football (soccer) fans. We play sound for all major matches, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United games, as well as the Rugby Six Nations and World Cup tournaments. For smaller fixtures or concurrent games, we can often designate a specific audio zone—just ask our staff.
Is the venue kid-friendly during major sporting events?
We love families and offer a great weekend brunch. However, during high-stakes sporting events (like the Euro Finals or World Cup), the atmosphere becomes “electric” and very crowded. While children are allowed, we recommend parents use their discretion, as it becomes a true adult sporting environment with standing-room crowds.
Do you accept reservations for large groups during the World Cup or Euros?
Yes. Finding a private room for a fantasy football draft party or a large table for the Euros can be a nightmare in NYC, but we specialize in it. We accept reservations for large groups, though we highly recommend booking weeks in advance for major tournaments. For massive events, we may require a deposit to secure your booth.
What is the difference between London Dry and Plymouth style gin?
As the host of top-rated gin flights and tasting menus downtown, we love this question. London Dry (like Tanqueray) is a style, not a location—it must be juniper-forward with no artificial flavors added after distillation. Plymouth Gin is a protected geographic designation; it must be made in Plymouth, England, and is typically slightly sweeter and earthier than a sharp London Dry. Come in for a flight to taste the difference yourself.
