Where Will the Super Bowl Be in 2023?
This year the Super Bowl will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The game takes place on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Kickoff is at 6:30 PM EST. So if you don’t have any plans yet, come watch Historic Super Bowl LVII at The Winslow!
The Road to Super Bowl LVII
The Los Angeles Rams won last year’s Super Bowl but didn’t even manage to make it back to the NFC Championship. Instead, the Philadelphia Eagles played the San Fransisco 49ers for the right to play in Super Bowl LVII.
The Eagles crushed the Niners 31-7 in a devastating defeat that saw the Niners lose their standout rookie quarterback Brock Purdy. The Eagles have a 14 win- 3 loss record this season, but two of those losses came when the team was without their starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who will be playing in Arizona.
The Cincinnati Bengals represented the AFC last year at the Super Bowl. They returned to the AFC Championship to face the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs defeated the Bengals in a hard-fought game with some questionable calls.
The Chiefs’ 23-20 win over the Bengals secured the path to the Super Bowl for the 2020 champs. The Chiefs have a 14-win- 3 loss record, just like the Eagles. These are two very equally matched teams.
Why Super Bowl 2023 is Historic
Even if you aren’t crazy about football, or you love football and are just happy that the Buffalo Bills bucked adversity during the season, this is one you might want to watch. That’s because there are two really cool things that will happen for the first time in Super Bowl history at the game in 2023.
Two African American Quarterbacks Will Start
Only three African American quarterbacks have started in a Super Bowl during its 103-year history. This year, when Jalen Hurts of the Eagles and Pat Mahomes of the Chiefs start for their respective teams, it will be the first time that two African American quarterbacks battle it out for the Lombardi Trophy.
Super Bowl LVII isn’t the only battle that is likely to come down to these two outstanding athletes. Hurts and Mahomes are also likely to get the top two spots in the MVP race, with it being anyone’s guess who will win between the two.
Two Brothers Will Play Against Each Other
Jason Kelce plays center for the Philadelphia Eagles. His brother Travis plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Both are starters who are highly rated at their positions and will see a majority of snaps during Super Bowl LVII.
Jason said that he will no longer be a fan of his brother’s Chiefs until after the game, while Travis noted that their mom really can’t lose.
