Ireland will face Scotland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday 1st February during the opening weekend of the 2020 Six Nations Championship.
This will be Andy Farrell’s first match in charge of Ireland, having stepped up from assistant to head coach following Joe Schmidt’s departure after the World Cup.
The winner of this match will be presented with the Centenary Quaich, which was first awarded in 1989 and was most recently won by Ireland following their 22-13 victory over Scotland during the 2019 Championship. Ireland also beat Scotland 27-3 at the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Ireland and Scotland have contested a total of 136 rugby test matches since their first meeting in 1877. Scotland have won 67 of those matches, whilst Ireland have won 64 matches. There have also been five drawn matches between the two nations.
