Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is made at The Shed Distillery. The Shed Distillery was built by PJ Rigney, a globetrotter who is well known for his curiosity. The distillery is the first to have a home in Connacht in more than a century. It is the home of extraordinary and ambitious brands like Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. The distillery has been producing premium Irish spirits since the Winter Solstice of 2014.
In fact, two of the distillery’s five traditional gleaming copper pot stills are dedicated to producing Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
This Irish gin uses as its flag bearer the jackalope. The jackalope, like the Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin itself, is a mystery and an unexpected blend of two amazing parts. Irish gin, delicate gunpowder tea and exotic oriental botanicals come together with a bold, bright splash of spicy freshness.
This gin has been well received. It has notes of citrus including grapefruit, lemon and makrut lime that are prominent as well as the juniper flavor. Anise and cardamom help it to lean more towards a honey flavor in the end notes. It is smooth and well-balanced with a pleasant heat.
Bowling & Burch Gin, New World Gin
Bowling & Burch Gin, New World Gin comes from Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky. Bowling & Burch like to refer to themselves as a “New World Gin” rather than Eastern because they choose to distill their spirits in the London Dry fashion as a way of paying homage to their non-Beam ancestry.
As true lovers of botanicals, the founders of Bowling & Burch gin have added more than a dozen botanicals to the gin’s profile beyond the base juniper. You might recognize hints of honeysuckle, bitter orange, lemongrass, blackberry and coriander.
The botanicals are steeped and vapor infused to carry their very essence through to the gin that you taste, giving you more delicate layers and an elevated flavor on the palette.
Limestone Branch Distillery is known for its whiskeys, Bowling & Burch is their first foray into the gin market. The gin has been well received by drinkers and is quickly gaining popularity. It has a floral and herbal nose and is very light on the palette. A hint of cumin and pepper spice meets fruity notes of raspberry. Bartenders at The Winslow Gin Club love this gin for mixed drinks.
