Birthday Dinner NYC
Oof. Planning a birthday party in New York City can make one not want to celebrate. Well, look no further as one of best bars to throw your birthday party in NYC — especially if you’re close to either the East Village or Gramercy neighborhoods– is without a doubt The Winslow. The Winslow is a gin house and eatery that often caters to large groups in a fun and laid back environment. It is the quintessential bar and restaurant to host your next birthday party. The Winslow tailors events to large and small parties alike creating lasting memories of amazing birthdays.
I came here on Sunday with a reservation for a group of 20 people from 1pm-3pm. They were very accommodating and allowed us to decorate the place up since it was a celebratory brunch for an engagement. There was also a birthday party going on in their private room next to us. It was a very casual setting where the football game was playing on the screens and some of us were recovering from the night before.
For our party, they gave us the $20 pre-fixe menu, which included 1 drink (mimosa, bloody mary, coffee, or tea) and 1 entree (eggs benedict, bacon egg cheese sandwich, winslow burger, or chicken and waffle). I chose the chicken and waffle with coffee. Our drinks came first, then all our food at once. I would love to try the Winslow Burger next time I come back bc it looked AMAZING. Everything looked so good, but it tasted even better. My waffle was thin, crispy and not too sweet. Thank goodness there was extra maple syrup bc I’m a sweet tooth 😀 I was afraid that there would be bone in on my chicken, but there weren’t. The chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was like chicken heaven
Booked their backroom for my wife’s 30th birthday. It was totally worth it. Our server was very nice and friendly. Very attentive to our needs and customized a few drinks to our taste. Their Gin selection is amazing we tired at least 5 of their G&Ts and loved all of them. My favorite was Uncle Val’s. Also their spicy margaritas were really good. Food selection is nice. Jalapeño Mac and Cheese, Scotch eggs and Shishito Peppers were really good. My personal favorite was the Irish Dip. Everybody had a really good time and I highly recommend this place.

It turns out you don’t need an ounce of pretention mixed in with every cocktail in order to make it delicious. The Winslow has an extensive gin list (and most other spirits you could be looking for) as well as a specialty cocktail list devised by Beverage Designer and Tales of the Cocktail winner Cait Moorhead. It’s a great bar to throw a birthday party, sip on some delectable concoctions, dance, chat, see old friends—and all this without the feeling you needed to wear a bowtie and suspenders. There’s nothing worse than walking up to the bar tender or server and feeling like they are rolling their eyes at you because you didn’t know an obscure ingredient monks churned into the small batch product years ago. The Winslow’s staff is friendly and informative and will make sure you like what you are drinking which is why we are one of the best bars for groups in NYC. After throwing one birthday party here, you’ll throw more, or just keep stopping in for gin and tonics or, you know, several gin and tonics. It’s absolutely lovely when regulars become friends because we are a chill birthday bar in nyc.
It’s the Little Things That Make Your Birthday Party a Bash at The Winslow:
The Winslow prides itself on the ability to throw notable and lively birthday parties. We work with the host or point person to make sure even seemingly small details are covered. Often, a favorite feature of guests, we allow you to rename a cocktail after the guest of honor or even an inside joke of your choosing. It’s simple in execution but goes a long way to make the birthday feel all the more special (and commemorative as you’d be welcome to take the specialty drink menu home). The Winslow also encourages guests to decorate the space to their liking. Though it doesn’t allow for items to be taped to the wallpaper, sticking photos, signs or banners to the glass window walls is permitted. Glitter or confetti is also frowned upon. They are monsters to clean up, but other than that, the more the merrier. The little niceties make the space feel like your own—and this is a sought-after feeling in NYC where often numbers are valued more than people.
