Everyone has been there. 30 of your closest friends want to help you celebrate your birthday, or your boss left planning the holiday party to the last minute—as well as up to you. Now what? It’s often a burden being unbelievably popular and trying to organize a borderline civilized event for larger groups in NYC—especially if you want a restaurant with private rooms, you wouldn’t have to sell part of your pancreas in order to afford, or isn’t the size of a Manhattan “walk-in” closet. Fortunately, the universe, or more specifically, East Village and Gramercy, has given the people The Winslow. The Winslow is a lovely Gin House and Eatery located directly between the neighborhoods of East Village and Gramercy and has many options catering to large groups looking for private event rooms or spaces. This city is crowded. Let The Winslow filter for you.
The Winslow is one of the best gin bars in NYC to host private events or semi private events. It doesn’t have to be a sequestered private room in order for the event to feel private or exclusive. The Winslow is definitely a product of it’s surroundings and upbringing. For one, it’s a New Yorker, so it’s incredibly creative with breaking up its space. For another, it can handle its booze and keeps the party going until the wee hours. From its semi-private dining room called the “Back Room” or the main bar area space that allows for creative ways to make any space feel both fun and practically exclusive:
Private Party Rooms NYC
The staff will help you host anything from 30th birthdays, engagement celebrations or private corporate events. The semi-private event space can seat up to 20 guests and hold as a gathering space upwards of 30 to 35 guests. It has two glass window walls with sliding doors so it’s private but your groups can still feel inclusive within the main bar area. The tables and small stools are minimal to create more of a mingling area but two walls are lined with bench seating so there is never a shortage. The same bench seating has available storage underneath to keep jackets, bags or other items guests need kept safe in order for them to stay carefree and foot-loose. There are no rental fees of any kind, only minimum spend requirements, which are easily met allowing for fewer stresses while planning fun gatherings in private spaces. Two walls of the semi-private back room are decorated by the inventive styling of Flavor Paper. When back there see if you can spot the decorative golden pigeons, rats and hydrants. To the untrained eye they are hard to spot.
The Communal High Top Area is an Amazing Large Group Party Space
For larger groups (between 35-55 guests) looking for semi-private spaces The Winslow’s Communal High Top private room area is an amazing space. Though technically not a room the Communal High Top area is the right half of the main bar area, and when reserved in its entirety can hold upwards of 55 guests comfortably. The space is then stanchioned off and the middle pillar tables are removed to create much more floor and gathering space. This space is ideal for large group events angling more towards a mingling area rather than a sit down dinner, such as fantasy football draft parties. For convenience the Communal High Top Area and event space also has several hooks and pegs for which to hang garments, bags and jackets. There is no coat check, but this allows guests to keep their personal items close without having to sit on top of them. The Winslow, even when at it’s busiest, tries to create a welcoming and chill environment for guests to be able to relax in but still turn up if the mood strikes.

The Winslow’s Versatile Nook is Also A Fantastic event space to celebrate your NYC Birthday Dinner
The Nook area consists of a large communal table in a cut out alcove directly across from the lively bar area. Though not a room, our cut out peninsula great for dinner groups of up to 10 guests. If you are not looking for a sit-down dinner, the space also makes a great home base for guests entering and exiting at varying times all in the name of keeping the party and night going. The Nook area can seat up to 10 and hold as a gathering space around 12-15 guests. The wall of the Nook Area is lined with irreverent plates, that let’s just say, upon which your British Nan may or may not approve.
Private Back Room Spaces For Your Cocktail Party
The Winslow’s Banquet Seating Section can seat up to 20 guests and hold as a gathering space upwards of 30 guests. It is the entire left half of the main bar area so no other guests would be in the section as well as providing lower more comfortable seating preferred by some guests. Other event spaces in The Winslow offer high tops and stools, but lower seating tends work better for certain types of gatherings. The private back room area is comprised of a booth lined wall and several tables and chairs. If more of a gathering space is preferred tables can be removed or pushed together allowing patrons to roam a little more freely. This section can also be stanchioned off to ensure no other guests are in your area, which aides in making the space feel a bit more private even in an open floor layout.

Semi-private or fully private buyouts of The Winslow are also an option on a case by case basis and minimum requirements vary depending on date desired to reserve. Because the bar and restaurant can be divided by glass doors large groups or corporate events have the ability to reserve ¾ of the space or the entire space. How guests go about the private or semi-private buyouts depends on how many guests they are looking to reserve for, the minimum spend requirement they are most comfortable with, as well as whether or not preexisting reservations exist from other parties on the date the party planner is looking to reserve. The Winslow staff and management team will work with you to find a day that suits both your special occasion or event timeline as well as your budget. Our private back rooms can also be suited for baby showers and bridal showers.
The Winslow is a neighborhood favorite, not only because of its delicious food and drink options, but also because it allows guests to create the space they are seeking for anything from semi-private events to casual dinner parties. Our large private rooms and party spaces have proven time and again to be both fun and affordable. Jaded New Yorkers will be pleasantly surprised at their hospitality and should definitely consider The Winslow for their next event or special occasion.
